    We are currently seeking mentors and friends of Free Arts who are interested in working together to help us handcraft our own Free Arts art sled and compete in the rally. Architects and functional-design-minded folks needed! We have had a blast in previous years at this event, and are so excited to be involved again.   • Save the Date: Turning Rebellion Into Money, A Tribute To Joe Strummer, returns to the First Avenue Mainroom Saturday, February 1st 2014

    The annual benefit concert will feature an array of local talent paying homage to the great Joe Strummer, co-founder of The Clash and one of the most important and influential voices of the punk movement. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Free Arts Minnesota. The funds will be donated in the name of Daniel Levy, a gifted young artist and the son of musician Adam Levy, who was also a fan of The Clash and in whose memory we will make it possible for other young artists to express their vision.   • Art Incognito Thursday, September 19, 2013

    Each year, 200 + guests, art collectors and participating artists, have attended Art Incognito to view fresh and engaging work from established and emerging artists.They then competitively bid on the pieces incognito fashion only to have the artist name and estimated value revealed at the end of the evening.

    - Last year's event raised over $30,000 and connected our savvy collectors to local and international artists. Funds raised at the event will be used to continue reaching children across the metro, whose lives arepositively impacted thru the Free Arts Program.

    - The incognito format led to some very interesting auction results.In the past, one Minneapolis based photographer watched as his work valued at $250, sold for $900 after 20 bids. A collage by an art student, valued at $75, sold for over 3 times its value.

    Free Arts Minnesota invites over 450 individuals and business representatives to attend a free fundraising breakfast showcasing the healing effects of the creative arts for the children that we serve. Free Arts hopes to inform and inspire our community to support our efforts in transforming young lives through artistic expression.     Minneapolis, July 7, 2011 – Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Josh Groban, in partnership with his Find Your Light Foundation and Americans For the Arts, helped raise funds for the local non-profit organization Free Arts Minnesota while in town to perform at Target Center, Friday July 8, 2011. This is the first time Groban has partnered with a local organization while on his worldwide tour.

    Three Twin Cities Theatre artists took the kids under their wings, and worked on different elements of the performance. Every child was able to experience the different aspects of putting on a play, such as: tech theatre (set building, painting), play development (playwriting and rehearsal), and acting (games, exercises, improv). At the end of the process, the three groups came together to deliver a final performance.

    There will be a bunch of community organizations going out there on Saturday to bring some entertainment and mental relief to the kids and their families affected by the tornado. Besides their basic shelter, food and clothing needs, they need to know they are supported by their community and that there are people who want to come and share that love through art, hugs, reading a book, dance-whatever.

  • Twice the Healing Campaign Kickoff Event Thursday, May 12th

    The Twice the Healing Campaign will enable Free Arts Minnesota to reach 4,000 children and take 10 facilities off the waiting list. This commitment to serving twice as many children will take additional resources including funding, partnerships and volunteers.
