FREE ARTS ENEWSLETTER May 2011

PROGRAM UPDATE

Dan Thomas and Dick & Kit Schmoker

We kicked off our Twice the Healing campaign with a donor event last Thursday, May 12th. This campaign is to extend the power of art and healing to more children.  Last year we reached 2,000 children.  We know with the help of our donors we can do even better.  Our Twice the Healing campaign is aiming to reach 4,000 children this year.  Dick and Kit Schmoker hosted this event, and special guests included former Award winning television journalist Robyne Robinson, Pam Schiele, Program Manager of Children’s Home Society and Family Services, children’s author Nancy Carlson, and Kim Witczak, Free Arts’ Board President.  Thank you to everyone that attended and donated. With your continued support we know that this will be a success.

We are also asking for any donations of digital cameras.  Photography is just another outlet for the children to express themselves creatively.  Please feel free to contact Esther with any questions.

Free ARts Day With Our Board Members

Free Arts Day

Free Arts would like to extend a tremendous thank you to our Board of Directors for sponsoring the Free Arts Day on April 9th at People Serving People.  The theme was “Me, Myself and Art.” Projects included painting personal banners, superhero masks, making pets out of glow sticks, crafting self portraits into quilt squares and the ever popular face painting.

Thanks to the support of our Board of Directors more than 40 children at People Serving People were given the opportunity to experience an inspiring morning filled with creativity, laughter and mentorship. To learn more about Free Arts Days and how your company can sponsor one, contact Dan at 612.824.2787.
