If you can walk you can dance; if you can talk you can sing.

Summer Mentorship Update
Happy Summer! Even though the weather has been a bit unpredictable, here at Free Arts we are bright and sunny making sure the healing power of art is brought to abused, neglected, and at-risk youth. At three of our sites, we are continuing mentorship through the summer. This summer we have 6 groups with almost 40 volunteers. We are so grateful to these volunteers to donate their time during the busy summer months! Our summer programs each have a specific curriculum designed for the age of the children who are participating in the program. The themes for the summer include- ‘Art Rocks!’, ‘Art from the Heart’, and ‘How Does Your Garden Grow?’. We are so excited to see the results of our summer programs because art needs to be a year-round season!
Refer a Mentor- As recently announced; we will be doubling our efforts here at Free Arts to reach twice the number of youth. This means that we will need even more committed and enthusiastic mentors, just like you, to help us achieve this goal! Who better to recommend other people to volunteer with Free Arts than YOU? Do you have a family member or friend who would be great with working with youth? Direct them to check out our webpage, fill out the online application, or contact Esther for more information! (We have a contest in the works for the mentor who refers the most people to volunteer with Free Arts)

Summer Opportunities- Just because weekly mentorship has slowed way down does not mean that there are not plenty of opportunities to still get involved with Free Arts! We have several one-day events where we need volunteers to come out and help us promote Free Arts and lead an art project. Coming up in the next month:
On Thursday June 23rd, United Health Group will be hosting a Free Arts Day at Northside Children’s Development Center from 9-3. We are looking for volunteers on the day of the event for set-up, clean-up, Art Pals, and registration. Contact Julia if you are interested in being a part of this day!
On Saturday June 25th, we will have a booth at the Burwell House Ice Cream Social in Minnetonka. Come out and see us, buy some art from local vendors, or contact Esther if you are interested in helping out the day of the event! The event goes from 10-4. Check out this website for more information.
Youth Opportunities- We recently created more opportunities for teens and youth in our community to become involved in Free Arts. These include joining the Free Arts Street Team, Social Media Volunteering, Art Supply Drives, and Parent-Child Mentor Teams. If you know an interested teen, contact one of our interns, Breanna, for more information.
