Why volunteer with free arts minnesota?

There are so many reasons, but here's a few for starters!

  • Team Style Mentoring- You will work with 3-6 other volunteers at your site. This gives you lots of support and opportunities to meet like-minded people. Get a few friends together and create your own mentor team!
  • Wide Variety of Times and Locations- We have partner agencies all over the Twin Cities and offer a variety of volunteer opportunity times, including evenings and weekends!
  • On-going Training &Volunteer Appreciation Events- Our volunteer program is a great way to meet new people, network and gain experience that will boost your professional and personal life.

What are you looking for in a volunteer?

You are a committed, caring individual with a strong interest in healing young lives through artistic expression. You do NOT need to be a professional artist. You do NOT need to have a degree in social work, psychology or child development. You're willing to commit to two hours per week for the duration of a school year.

Where will I be volunteering?

You could be placed at any of our Weekly Mentorship partner agencies, depending on your interests, schedule and transportation needs. We work together to find a time and place that works well for you. We do NOT host programs in our downtown offices.

Can I volunteer if I don't have a car?

Yes! We have many partner agencies located on public transportation routes and often volunteer teams arrange car pools.

Is Training provided?

Yes! We offer a fun, informative volunteer training at the beginning of the mentorship year and ongoing free workshops and networking events to help you improve your mentoring experience and gain important skills and knowledge. Many of our volunteers have used these opportunities to make professional connections and boost their resumes.
