PROGRAM UPDATE
Successful Training Kicks Off 2009 Weekly Mentorship

New and returning volunteers bond in their teams at the training on September 26th, 2009.
Welcome New and Returning Weekly Mentors! On October 5th The Weekly Mentorship Program kicks off at our 18 partner facilities. Over 120 volunteers will be working with children each and every week. This program year returning volunteers make up 60% of the Weekly Mentorship Program.
Why do volunteers return each year?
One volunteer expressed their excitement at the training, "I am excited to be back and start again! It makes me feel proud to be part of Free Arts and to work with you all!" Other volunteers expressed how good it feels to work with the children each week and that, "as a volunteer you get just as much back that you give to the kids - it just feels good!"
The new volunteers are excited, too. After the training one volunteer exclaimed, "I have a feeling I am really gong to enjoy volunteering for this organization!"
Do you have the volunteer bug?
Spots are still open for you to make a difference in the life of a child on:
Tuesdays - 3:15 - 4:45 pm
Wednesdays - between 12 - 3 pm
Thursdays - 6:15 - 7:45 pm
Want to help in other ways?

SPECIAL THANKS
Free Arts Minnesota Takes Part in Junior League of Minneapolis Bus Tour

Fun Fact:
Free Arts Minnesota was started as a project of the Junior League of Minneapolis in 1997. We would to specially thank the Junior League of Minneapolis for inviting us to be a part of their 2009 Bus Tour. We are also especially grateful to the Helping Hands Committee volunteers, who helped to make the day a success! We were very fortunate to meet over 100 potential volunteers and donors, at the Bus Tour event. Without community partnerships like this, Free Arts Minnesota wouldn't be able to provide art & mentorship to the at-risk youth in our community.
To learn more about how your company or group can get involved, contact Andrea Satter, Development Director.
"Thank You" to these individuals:
Anita Spading - Donated art supplies
Rachel Peet - Donated event supplies
Linda Bendt - Donated art supplies
Since no child or nonprofit partner facility pays a fee for our services, donated materials are crucial to the success of our mentorship programming. Want to donate supplies? Click here to see our Wish List. |
